Since it is NYC, what they should do is sue for back pay and current pay until they are eligible for full retirement benefits, including the city paying into their pensions and retirement plans.
I think that is fair. Plus it will p*ss off the taxpayers who will have to fund this.
We would think so.
But after 40 years of watching politics closely I have to wonder.
I have seen the people NY vote consistently Democrat and I have seen those Democrats studiously find new and more creative ways in which to spend taxpayer’s money.
The waste, fraud and abuse of the public treasury in NY has been disgusting to observe.
My only conclusion from these observations is that the people of NY believe that their government has inexhaustible supplies of money from which it can fund any and all possible projects, programs and schemes.
Their child like faith in their elected leaders is rather sad. Every time one of these government schemes fails they seem to just shrug it off and say, that’s okay, here try again, you can do it.
So, I just don’t see much likelihood that the taxpayer will get pissed. At least not to the point that there will be any shift in the political winds.
