Arizona Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego on Monday plans to launch a challenge against Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, CBS News has learned.

Gallego, an outspoken liberal Democrat, has long been critical of Sinema, who dropped her party identification as a Democrat to be an independent just after the party won the Senate last year. The Arizona senator still aligns herself with the Senate Democratic caucus, though.

Sinema said at the time that she changed her party affiliation because she "never fit neatly into any party box", but the label switch prompted an immediate backlash from many Democrats, including Gallego…

That'll blow your hair back.

I've actually been kind of liking Kyrsten Sinema over the last couple of years.

All my siblings can vote for her.

If you gonna have a California senator jammed down your throat [see Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, Washington state and Montana], you might as well go with a REAL maverick.

Now that she is independent, she doesn’t have to spend money on a primary. She might lose some straight party voters though.

Looks like three way race in AZ now.

Unusual move for the Democrats. In a fair election, a three way race like this would favor Republicans, and unlike the Stupid Party, Democrats don't do anything that helps republicans.

When Sinema became an independent, it was obvious to me that she was trying to avoid a Democrat primary, because Democrats punish people who don't toe the line.

After the theft of Kari Lake's race along with the SoS and AG, I guess the fix is in, so Dems are confident they can steal it even in a three way race.

I repeat: Dems would NEVER do this if elections were fair.

Which if it turns out that way should open the door for a Republican, the other two will split the Democratic vote

Spot on. With potential trouble in a primary from butt-hurt Ds, the move to Independent was intended to freeze out any Ds who got ideas to challenge her.

because :

A 3 way, 3 party race swings nicely R-Kari Lake, I predict. Gallego is a know-it-all raging liberal, thus not too smart, obviously. He assumes citizens share his outrage ! that Sinema retained the filibuster.

The result of this will be either Sinema winning or the Repub winning. The Dems are cutting their own throat. Good

No argument... but she has made me pretty happy with a lot of her votes and watching all the liberals continually cry over those same votes after supporting her has made it that much sweeter.
I have long believed she is under control because so much of what she has done came straight out of left field and blindsided them, but she did have 2 closed door meetings with Trump the day she was sworn in and it is my belief she was shown a file with the evidence that can be used against her if need be.
