Unfortunately, I’m not as optimistic as you are. For example, there should be no such thing as a hate crime, because such a crime requires knowledge of what a person was thinking. A crime should just be a crime, period.
Yet we have hate crimes on the books. So you can bet they’ll be successful making unpopular speech a crime. All they’ve got to do is introduce it little by little.
That is why we have high grade weapons...we "little people" types...
when the government thinks it can impose tyranny on us.
Yup, we can fire it right back so to speak.
