Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is asking state universities for the number and ages of their students who sought gender dysphoria treatment, including sex reassignment surgery and hormone prescriptions, according to a survey released Wednesday.
...The survey is being sent to the university board of trustee chairs by DeSantis’ budget director, Chris Spencer.
“Our office has learned that several state universities provide services to persons suffering from gender dysphoria," Spencer wrote. “On behalf of the Governor, I hereby request that you respond to the enclosed inquiries related to such services...

At least they’re calling it what it is: gender dysphoria. We need to recover the narrative by calling things what they are. Transgender is gender dysphoria. Period. No matter how much you think or act like the opposite sex, you aren’t. Your genes are immutable.

They’re worried this is a slippery slope. What next a list of students who had their appendix out. I love DeSantis but medical records are normally sacred.
Well, they’re quoting, I think, from the governor’s memo. The Democrat party and its media buddies in Florida haven’t figured out a fake name to apply to this action yet.
Remember, the parental rights bill was given a completely false name...the media was caught flat footed here.

You don’t think so? Many have had to get medical treatment for it. Typically go to nurse and then sent to hospital.
It’s a survey. Information often collected by various entities for example about smokers, or demographics, or sore throats or STDs. From what I can see they are not asking for any identifying information that would violate HIPAA.

I understand but that is not what it is. It’s basically asking for demographic info of the population. It is not about details of individual students.

Whereas if college makes these accommodations for trannies like all these free services, many might go there seeking free support.
Where does it say anything about requesting medical records? He wanted a survey of ages and numbers etc. which would all be anonymous.
Basically he is trying to get a handle on how big this WOKE mental health problem is.

And I suppose if the governor is responsible for the budget that pays, he can ask for how many of these “treatments” the taxpayers are paying for.
What a conundrum.
If the number is quite small, the universities will have a hard time lobbying to fund it.
If the number is high, the public will start asking questions about the goings-on at the schools.

DeSantis is conducting oversight of taxpayer money. I know the DeSantis haters do not like that because it is responsible .
It’s not difficult at all to visualize a racket where schools are asking for massive budgets and armies of faculty and administrators for gender dysphoria counseling and treatment.
Governor DeSantis has a fiduciary interest in knowing how many students are affected.
