Richard Blodgett, a single father, was jailed on a drug charge when a worker from Arizona’s child welfare agency delivered the news: His son was brain dead and on life support — just days after being taken into state custody.

Blodgett screamed, cried and screamed some more. Jakob was his only son, a “darn cute,” curious 9-year-old who loved remote control cars and video games. Blodgett is now struggling to understand how it happened.

A medical examiner listed Jakob’s death in late December as natural with complications from diabetes, a condition he was diagnosed with as a toddler. Specifically, Type 1 diabetes, which means his body was unable to produce enough insulin to survive.

If I did that I’d be arrested for child neglect (as a minimum). State does it and it’s ok.

Gee, if there had only been some way the father could have avoided being separated from his son. Not do drugs, maybe? Nah, that’s crazy talk.

That father had 4,000 fentanyl pills in his possession, when he was living with his son in a motel. He has some responsibility for his son’s death.

No, doubt the father has done things very wrong, but I don’t think this poor boy deserved the death penalty for that.

This kid had an insulin pump to manage his blood sugar and the state can’t answer a simple question about whether it had been removed or not?

Complete bullshit and indicative of a cover up. Where is the damn autopsy report? The presence Or the hospital records, they should all note the presence of the pump.

If it was missing, then yhe absence of indicates neglect or abuse in foster care and a shitton of lying about iy

Insulin pumps don’t just walk off.
