The Biden administration is fighting to maintain a federal mask mandate for air travel and other methods of transportation even after President Biden said months ago the pandemic is "over," and despite calls from travel associations to end mask mandates.
The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals will hear arguments on Tuesday from the Biden Justice Department on behalf of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to reinstate a mask mandate for air travel, after a federal judge in Florida struck down the mandate last April.
"The Department continues to believe that the order requiring masking in the transportation corridor is a valid exercise of the authority Congress has given CDC to protect the public health. That is an important authority the Department will continue to work to preserve," DOJ said in a statement at the time of the ruling.

"The Biden administration is trying to paper over an illegal, sweeping mandate on Americans that is full of massive legal and scientific holes," HFDF founder and President Leslie Manookian said in a press statement. "That a federal agency should be able to just usurp the power of Congress, and violate fundamental individual rights is not only at odds with the law – it defies basic common sense."

They don’t care about masks at this point and probably wouldn’t bring them back. They want the POWER to do it. That’s more important.

Biden’s statement that the “pandemic is over” is surprising. There are literally thousands of us who have refused domination of the bioweapon.

Bingo - this is all about compliance with the tyrannical government and has absolutely nothing to do with public health.
I had occasion to fly blue state to blue state recently - and the vast majority of passengers on the planes and in the airports were NOT wearing masks. Maybe 10-15% mask wearers. Even deep blue state people have figured this out.
The Democrat party has a problem.
One of their core constituencies, the suburban Karen, loves masks, and scolding those who don’t want to wear them just for the sheer power of it. But that’s a fairly narrow demographic.
So Brandon has to thread the needle: annoy everyone except suburban Karens, or risk losing them into the “didn’t vote” category. Either way, if the Republicans had at least half a brain, they would exploit this structural weakness in the Democrat coalition by relentlessly pointing out the futility, silliness, and downright power-grabbing of the Democrat party.
They won’t, but one can dream.
First the deep state came for our showerheads, toilets, laundry and dishwashing detergent, the A/C coolants and we did nothing, then they came for our light bulbs and we did nothing, next they want your gas stove, hot water tank and boiler …

Judging from the articles cited, this was before the age of routine pre-op antibiotics.
And that study looked at, and the reason for surgeons wearing masks has always been, preventing BACTERIAL infection. Bacteria are much larger than viruses, and yet this study found no difference in bacterial infections when masks were not worn. If masks don’t stop bacteria then they most certainly have no effect on viruses. Wearing them to prevent COVID or any other viral infection is 100% a placebo.
All visitors must be vaccinated to enter the United States. So the Scamdemic is not over. No other nation requires this.

As others have said, they are there to make Karen feel safe. It is also used under the pretense that we can get back to normal, and Karen can go out and go shopping like before Covid if we all wear masks. However, in practice, Karen will never do that, because Karen is still afraid of Covid and won’t leave her house.
McCarthy needs to completely defund the DOJ/FBI/CIA...
