This is where I'm at.
And for all the people who will jump on this thread to call me a #NeverTrumper, I'll say that I supported Trump enthusiastically in 2016 and 2020 and I have a posting history on Free Republic that reflects this. Donald Trump remains the only political candidate that I've ever donated money to (and I donated often).
I simply do not believe that Trump has a path to the White House in 2024. DeSantis does.
Ron DeSantis is the future of the Republican Party.
Anyhow, this is a very good article and it's a shame I couldn't post the entire thing here as the Globe and Mail requires excerpting. Of particular interest, the article discusses the Covid Pandemic as the catalyst for DeSantis morphing from something of a generic Republican governor into the fighter (and winner) that he's become today.
Let the demonization of Ron DeSantis begin.
DeSantis appears to be much less prone to unforced errors. Still, I would think it a mistake for adversaries to simply see him as Trump 2.0. What worked against trump lielynwill not work against DeSantis.
President Trump’s Achilles’ Heel is apparent inability to surround himself with competent, trustworthy people.
Prove me wrong.
his
They can’t make DeSantis look dumb, so they try to characterize him and mean and vindictive.
Both republicans and democrats are out of shape polticaly. THe other axis, conservatives and liberals have been at the gym, working the future quite hard over the past 2 years.
The Issues
0. The Economy
1. Superpower Status
2. Bail Reform and Crime
3. Abortion and young child welfare
4. Rural Public unfractured
5. Urban / Suburban Balance
6. Catch and imprison Child Predators
Well, at least someone is taking Adrian Morrow seriously! I’m sure he’s got at least one finger on the pulse of the GOP! (Hey, that kinda rhymes.)
Yet we're often told here that he's learned his lesson and will not repeat the same mistakes but I'm not seeing any evidence of this.
I'm not sure Trump has learned anything. This would require him to admit that he made bad decisions.
The Anti-Trump money is behind DeSantis but there are nuanced differences that we have to consider.
I did vote for Trump in 2016 and 2020 more and more committed to disruption as the only strategy to deal with the Uniparty system.
I listen to what President Trump says take the sexualization of children with transgenderism in schools.
Trump’s view is that this should only happen with parental consent which is to say sexualization of children is alright with parental consent.
DeSantis’s Administration confronted some “drag shows” held at public venues right after Christmas.
The venues position children being admitted with adults the DeSantis Administration view children could not be subjected to sexualization period.
Agree. Donald Trump’s time to run again to be president has passed.Ron DeSantis like Ronald Reagan has a governor advantage.
Being a governor gives you experience with policy issues.
Being governor teaches you how to work with a legislative body.
Being a governor forces you to develop down-to-earth political skills.
Being a governor puts you in an executive mindset and helps you assemble a team of battle-tested top aides.
Being a governor offers a venue where one can make mistakes.
Are you who is to come, or should we wait for another?
Reagan was an ex-governor IIRC.
Trump is an ex-POTUS. That should count for something.
BZZZZZZZT....wrong.
The embedded mail-in voting, no Voter ID, and embedded Deep State vote counting/re-counting, and ballot harvesting are ALL in place now. IF DeSantis REALLY is legit (I have my doubts),, and not a setup, then he cannot win against the "Legal" system packed with "no standing" Judges, etc., just like any other "Conservative" candidate will never be allowed to win.
Welcome to the New World Order, Comrades.
One Guy has no answer to that question, unfortunately.
Because he won't really do anything and will be a Deep State bitch.
Trump or nothing. Accept substitutes.
When’s your golden boi going to announce? Is he a COWARD?
I personally see DeSantis as a more polished version of Trump who is less prone to unforced errors.
The governor is much like Trump, minus foot-in-mouth disease, and WITH an eloquence when explaining conservatism. Love the man, but I will support Trump 100% as nominee also.
Trump accomplished more than Defakeusout will ever dream of doing.
