What should you wear to work if you’re nonbinary?
It may not be the most pressing question that gender-nonconforming people face on the job, but with approximately 1.2 million LGBTQ+ Americans identifying as nonbinary, employers and employees alike are exploring what professional attire can look like.
“I think people treat me with more dignity when I dress more masculinely, but people are way nicer to me when I dress more femininely,” said El Layla Johnson, 33, a former restaurant server who is now a therapist.
For Johnson, getting dressed for work has been a struggle since adolescence.
“I just feel like there’s a manual or rule book that people receive and that my copy got lost in the mail,” Johnson said.
Johnson recalled regularly crying while getting dressed for work at an upscale restaurant in Seattle. It wasn’t just that they found the restaurant’s dress code to be ugly. Johnson had a hard time finding clothes that fit at all.

Good Morning!
Happy Trash Day if they are celebrating in your area!
I thought that I may have had it in three today, but ended up with the norm...
Wordle 682 4/6
🟩⬛⬛⬛🟨
🟩⬛🟩⬛⬛
🟩🟩🟩⬛🟩
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
(In the golf analog, this Par on the 4th hole keeps me at one over for the round... ⛳️)
It threw a curve at me today, so it took four tries. It was that end letter that had me re-thinking my over-thinking so that I ended up with four. But that’s OK. Four is a good healthy number. Even six is a good healthy number because it means you don’t have to start over from number one.
Exactly!
Today, it was less of a ‘Wordle word’ than it could have been...
That one ticked me off, I thought for sure I had it on the second try, and I was off by the one vowel.
It is Trash Day here. Woo-hoo!
I’m going to celebrate by going to Walmart.
There’s a joke in there, but I’ll let it pass.
*snicker*
It’s trash day here, too, and I celebrated by going to Walmart, as well, but only because I was with Pam. (Who did, indeed, pick my brains.)
She has decided that she’s the only one who can take me to church. She didn’t ask if that was OK with me, but she told Eleni, (the other gal who wants to pick me up) that it was the way it was going to be.
We then went to Walmart, where I got in a slightly-less-than-brisk walk, and then to Kroger where I got my prescriptions and crackers.
And came home to find I was without the Interwebs again. So the hotspot is in use once again. It seems that once a month, I have to use the hotspot.
Looks like I’ll be stuck here with no Wi-Fi and no TV for the foerseeable future. Unngh.
Do I want to go through the hassle of watching movies? I dunno.
Snow this morning, hard to graupel with...
It was tricky....
👍🏻
It is good that you have the hotspot as a backup!
That’s punny, Nully!
I keep thinking of getting rid of it, but maybe after I move. As it is, I need it more than I don’t.
It’s $10 more a month for the privilege, but its worth it.
Graupeling is difficult regardless.
I can think of all sorts of people I'd LOVE to make this for.
No wi-fi and no tv? Yoiks!
The Carters on our east side are having some dead juniper trees removed today. The noise made Jake very anxious. It probably disturbed some bird nests, too. Birds don’t care if the trees are dead.
Yeah, I just got a recorded message that the Wi-Fi is back on, but that’s not what the router says.
I think the reason for the outage is the fact that Cabot is installing fiber optics and this area has had the diggers on every street for the last two weeks. I’m surprised it hasn’t gone out before now.
I just checked the TV and so far, no good. Another couple of hours and it will be bedtime, so ohwell...
That’s funny!!
The only cartoon I’ve ever seen that puts Biden in the correct light is from Antonio Branco. Biden’s nose is growing as the cartoons progress. It all fits.
