What should you wear to work if you’re nonbinary?
It may not be the most pressing question that gender-nonconforming people face on the job, but with approximately 1.2 million LGBTQ+ Americans identifying as nonbinary, employers and employees alike are exploring what professional attire can look like.
“I think people treat me with more dignity when I dress more masculinely, but people are way nicer to me when I dress more femininely,” said El Layla Johnson, 33, a former restaurant server who is now a therapist.
For Johnson, getting dressed for work has been a struggle since adolescence.
“I just feel like there’s a manual or rule book that people receive and that my copy got lost in the mail,” Johnson said.
Johnson recalled regularly crying while getting dressed for work at an upscale restaurant in Seattle. It wasn’t just that they found the restaurant’s dress code to be ugly. Johnson had a hard time finding clothes that fit at all.

I finally had to close the door, but the A/C hasn’t kicked on, so while there are no new allergens coming in, the ones I’ve been exposed to all day are still with me.
So I’m going to take my pills and see what I can do to make myself comfortable. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day. I hope!
Have a good night!
I hope you have a good night, too! Tom and Vlad are going to Your Local Game Store again.
Yellacat!
I love the Yellacats!
Good morning. Did you have a good night?
I was sleeping quite soundly when a text came in from Walmart saying that part of yesterday’s grocery order is on the way. Unngh. Of course, that meant I was aware of how much pain I was in so I got up. This time, it was for just over an hour, not the usual 2-4.
We’re supposed to have a sunny day today, but the temp will only be 68°. Then more gray all of next week.
Is your family doing anything fun today? Botanical gardens or such? I’m feeling more like a house plant every day. Being confined to quarters isn’t good for my mentality and emotional health.
Elen, USMC, called at 6:30, just as I was getting the first cup of coffee. I dreamed that we won the lottery. It was $6.8 million, and I sent $680,000 by PayPal to the church building fund.
DP and I were doing a little yardwork when I got a text from Central Piedmont Community College saying there’s a tornado warning in Mecklenburg County. It looks like the system will pass to the north of us, but it has started raining a little bit.
Good morning, Elen, USMC, the next time she calls. Or whatever time of day it is. How is she doing? Is she still in Okinawa?
Oh dear! That’s scary, that tornado warning is!
I’m going to go get dressed and maybe the day will look a little better to me. I’m feeling very closed in, for some reason, today.
Happy Caturday, Wordle Fans!!

Good luck all y’all on your Wordle puzzle!
I wonder if plurals will make an appearance some day?
Good Morning!
I see some sun in the sky, so that is a nice start to the morning... this Wordle was a struggle... a setup with a LOT of possible choices... I hoped that I didn’t run out of road...

Nice job on the 3-spot, ‘Face!
👍🏻
But still, you made it before the Dreaded X/6!
We have sun but very cool. It’s 48° at the moment.
A bit of rain, not heavy, and now it’s getting lighter again. DP and I have a church meeting this afternoon. Bros are all still in bed.
El is still in Okinawa. It’s Saturday evening there.
I hope not. If so, the possibilities truly will be endless.
Thanks!
Yep, the rain always accompanies a tornado, sometimes for many miles around it. The people around here take tornadoes as a matter of course (and for them, I’m sure they are) but they put me into that “fight or flight” mode and I’ve got no way to deal with it. In my situation, it’s neither.
Will Elen re-up, do you think? Has she spoken any more about it?
I guess it depends on how many years they want to keep the game running...
I think she’s going to get out. She said she’s taking a seminar on rejoining the civilian workforce.
Best of luck to her in whatever she decides.
I just put an envelope in the mail drop, headed your way!
I will look forward to mail!
Elen said she might apply for a job at Lockheed, working on F-35 simulators.
