While turning a blind eye to the starving Afghan population, on Jan. 4, a Taliban senior leader professed the group has an "obligation" to protect Chinese nationals looking to invest in the country’s mineral and oil wealth.
The comment comes on the heels of a December attack that targeted Chinese investors who frequent Kabul’s Longan Hotel. The Islamic State – Khorasan Province, ISIS-K, claimed responsibility for the assault.
On Jan. 5, the Taliban announced it had killed eight ISIS-K members, including those responsible for the hotel attack. The following day, China’s Xinjiang Central Asia Petroleum and Gas signed a significant contract to drill oil in northern Afghanistan’s Amu Darya basin.

Dear China:
Remember this song: “You knew damn well I was a snake before you brought me in”
signed,
Ben
It looks like Obama has sent his pet terrorist flying monkey into Afghanistan. Not that I mind because the ChiComs are our biggest threat, not the RuZZZZians.
To all those who want us out of all the “worthless” places in the world, observe our number one enemy China extracting the value from Afghanistan.
Another Biden sell out to China?
And yes Ukraine is far wealthier in gas, minerals, wheat and strategic position.
Trump was going to leave Afghanistan BUT he was not going to allow the Taliban to take over.
Isolationism combined with leftist democrats have real world consequences for all of us.
And we get to watch. :^)
“Isolationism combined with leftist democrats have real world consequences for all of us.”
That deserves a Bump
And who is ultimately behind ISIS.
The original jihadists backed by the US, UK etc. who tried to overthrow Assad checkmated by Russian-Iranian intervention.
Then all of the sudden this ISIS thing happened and forced US military intervention in Iraq and Syria.
We have learned that a Canadian intelligence operative smuggled underage girls and others into Syria to join ISIS early on...https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-62726954
So I say the US which Canada is a subsidiary of has its fingers in ISIS.
Now ISIS is sent into Afghanistan after the US is kicked out.
Pity the good people of A’stan but with the President’s disastrous retreat I doubt that we’ll ever go back. That said, I wish ISIS and the Taliban well.
A review: When Osama was running his show in Khost, Afghanistan, a small number of Chinese Turkomans were trained there in the Islamist theology of Al Qaeda. China was aware of this, and the fact that the Islamists made inroads in Kashgar and Khotan and smaller sites in China’s west is one reason the Chinese moved to quash the Uigurs. From that prospective today: China supports the Taliban although it knows it could be playing a losing hand; the Islamists support their old friends in the recreated Al Qaeda who are still active in Afghanistan and who oppose the Taliban.
The Taliban government is using the same language to tell ISKP (ISIS) to stop their attacks as the fmr Afgh goverment used against the Talibans:
Why and for what reason are they ruining Afghanistan’s security?
In our country, is there blasphemy, polytheism, occupation, major sin, and any other unseemly act in public that we should fight and shed blood to get rid of it?
Do ISIS believe in the Book of God and the Sunnah of the Messenger of God (PBUH)?
If yes, then what is the reason for these crimes?

one comment is:
Mr. Mujahid, when you were sending suicide bombers to mosques, which polytheist were you looking for? When you killed hundreds of Muslims and Afghans, which polytheism and disbelief were you looking for? In Kandahar, he killed General Razaq by the side of a foreigner, was he an infidel or the person next to him? These questions should be asked thousands of times before each group

The Taliban is at least supposed to be an advocate for Muslims, even though they hate everyone else. WTF. Don’t they care about the Uighers? But then again, whatever they’re feeding to China, it’s Taqiya, and whatever China is feeding to the Taliban, it’s commie BS. So munch popcorn and watch the modern reboot of When Hitler Met Stalin with nuclear weapons, stolen American technology, and enough mendacity to make an endless sitcom.
You forgot the “h” in sitcom, btw. ;^)
Even the Turks don’t care about the Uighurs.
As far as Afghanistan, my usual attempted bon mot applies, it’s in my tagline here.
Well, somebody ought to care about them. Nobody cared about Armenians, Jews, Gypsies, Biafrans or Ukrainian peasants for that matter, and these things come back to haunt. Genocide is super duper bad karma.
Heh, bad karma and $4 will yield an overpriced cup of coffee.
I should have said, even though there are people who privately care about them, public criticism is at most muted.
Well, considering all the hullaballoo about Palestinians this and Palestinians that, it’s just plain wrong. There should be plenty of public criticism. Trump should bring it up as part of his stop-China agenda. The new Select Committee on China should be on it like chopsticks on rice.
Oh, and Putin who’s posing as the world cop on “de-Nazification” should be turning up his nose on help from China, and since he’s not, he deserves a hearty horse laugh of dismissal.
Then there’s Kaepernick, who can’t get over the fact that there was slavery in the US once upon a time, won’t tolerate the Betsy Ross flag because of that fact, is pitching for sneakers probably made by Uigher slaves, using cotton probably picked by Uigher slaves.
This kind of complacent sanctimony is unconscionable.
“Heh, bad karma and $4 will yield an overpriced cup of coffee, now eat some fruit. It’s good for you,” said Eve to Adam.
“What’s this ‘coffee’ you speak of?” (the real ‘forbidden fruit’ / ‘temptation of Eve’ story)
Good luck with all that.
We gave them 20 years of our blood and treasure and for what? They chose not to fight for their freedom.
You spoke of it. Eve might or might not have spoken of it, but there were no dollar bills, or money of any kind at the time.
