Not long ago I heard a Congressman state on TV during an interview that he never receives letters about constituents’ positions or recommendations of bills being considered.

Maybe it is time for FR contributors to change that and become frequent correspondents with out Congress critters.

no kidding. i email/call the offices of my critters whenever a big issue comes up. the responses are usually canned, so who knows what gets through to them to them.

Well, aside from your GREAT advice, and we really all owe it to our beliefs to do so, that Congressman could just be lying or being lied to by his staff.

Normally it is they who blow off the constituents, not the constituents ignoring them.

What he didn’t say was that his staffers filter all that correspondence. And quite frankly, letters?

Who in the hell sends letters anymore?

Emails. Ones he never sees because his staffers send back vanilla responses.
