I could imagine the Dem response:
You want to cut 87,000 JOBS in THIS economic climate?!

This is why the RATS needed the Warlock jackass from Georgia and the demented Neanderthal from Pennsylvania. Without those two morons, the RATS asses would have been grass burgers. Since they got those two POS “elected”, it’s the Americans gonads that are roasting on an open fire.

Now we start the dog and pony shows between the repubs in the house and the rats in the senate.

As the article says, this bill will die in the Senate. And even if Republicans controlled the Senate, they wouldn’t have enough votes in the House to override Biden’s veto.

Amazing what the Pubbies can do, when there’s no chance of it being actually signed into law.

Getting the thing stuck into a bill that the Senate would need to consider, and ideally pass, is the trick. Next year’s budget would be the appropriate forum.

I thought that the IRS hadn't filled the 87K positions yet. So we are not talking about a layoff, we are talking about not filling those positions.

When the Senate sits on this, the next bill should be a restriction that the 87K workers shall only do work auditing taxpayers earning $1 million or more. That's what the Dems said they wanted, so let us get that restriction in place.

This is a non-story. What is a story is when they use their control of the House to stop crazy things like increases to the Debt Ceiling, future deficit spending, and future years of taxes going up. The time to stop this craziness is now. They need to push for a compromise solution that will actually get things done that starts going into effect now. If the Dems refuse and decide to send the country on this path of destruction then they’ll need to notify the State governments that the Dems have blown it, recess until January 2025, and leave it to the States to decide how to do caretaking of the federal assets/liabilities until the federal level can be back in business once the debt ceiling is hit or the appropriations run out. It would be good for the country/world in the long run to have a pause on federal spending and tax collecting for 18+ months so the federal level can have a reset and get back to living within its means. Hopefully the next Congress & President will be able to figure out how to manage the Union. The last dozen or so Congresses (along with Presidents) have been a fiscal disaster. If this Congress can’t figure out how to solve this then we need a reset at the federal level while maintaining stability/security at the states’ level.

Great news, but it won’t pass the Senate let alone be signed by the President, so it is a meaningless gesture.

Should pass another bill that removes the remaining 93,654 IRS "workers".

The IRS, a private corporation of Puerto RICO.

Exactly because suddenly comments on posts are saying it would never have passed the senate. I don’t believe that. At the rate things were going, it probably would have passed. Dem’s are just trying to take the credit away from the changes taking place. .

During the 2022 midterm campaign, now House Speaker McCarthy had pledged to roll back the money devoted to boosting tax enforcement at the IRS if the Republicans were to retake the House of Representatives.

'Our job is to work for you, not go after you,' McCarthy said

Works for me...

Yes, nice TALK but how do they get Senate and Biden to approve? Without those two, it is wasted effort.

This was an effort by the Dems to get control of the entire country’s population Every citizen would be controlled financially, politically, economically and socially. This was a simple method to take control of the country initially without firing a shot, the IRS would only have to make a phone call and lock everyone down even if you paid no taxes. The IRS would have to had 10 thousand agents doing nothing but making raids for bank records, phones and computers at 5 AM daily or around the clock. It would have required a huge bank of IRS computers copying bank online transactions around the clock. The Dems would have owned the American Political System. There is no end to the ramifications 87 thousand agents could have gone to at taxpayers own expense to take control of the country.
