Their towns, cities and villages were all organized on their island before motor cars existed. Loads of charm there and less need for autos day to day.
I love my pickup truck. They can go pound sand.
I was always amazed at how much money I saved in Korea, not having a car. Also, for short times in Germany. It was no big deal there. Now I live 10 miles out of town and have 20 acres to tend to, can’t live without my truck.
There ya go!!!!!
They all want you to be a “leftist”.....
My thought exactly. What are they waiting for?
“If you don’t want a car, don’t buy one.. but don’t tell others they can’t have theirs…”
They aren’t against cars. They just can’t afford them.
I’m a “far right” driver....
Ownership of anything is bad.
Homes, cars, boats, businesses, pets...
You name it, it’s bad.
That’s why communism exists. Nobody owns anything, and everything belongs to the government, and you work for the government, and whatever you get, it’s because the government allowed it. Otherwise, you exist only to support the government, and government owns you. In fact, you exist because the government allowed you to exist, and you should be thankful for government control of your life.
[[extensive train system that makes it easy to get around the country. ]]
not so easy for things like moving when a person must move themselves without movers- or when picking up large items for the household, or just running down to the store for groceries and having many bags of food to carry- etc-
being independent makes life much more comfortable and convenient, and is something advanced sovereign freedom loving nations do- taking that freedom and independence and comfort away, that is something dictatorships who don’t want their citizens to be independent do
British have relinquished so many rights they don’t recognize what freedom is.
Freedom is a burden they let government manage for them.
Like a chained pet that gets food, water and a nice pat on their head every once in a while.
“Good doggie!”
No, no, no, no! You’re suppose to say “I don’t like lima beans so no one should be allowed to eat lima beans”! And you “want the government to mandate that”! See? LOL

Freedom is such an inconvenience. Besides in the personal car we cannot be “in this together”...

When I don’t want to own something I don’t own that something. I’m not asking Govt to make sure everyone else wouldn’t have it.
We have citizens, Britain has “subjects”.
I wonder what the distribution of this is, as far as urban vs rural.
I know if I lived in London, there is no way I would want a car. But of course if you live in a suburb or rural area, a car would be a necessity.
And half the people who don’t have cars want one! And 33% of those who have a car want another one for different uses.
