Talks about the pastor and a little bit about an early Pope. Was he upset with Benedict for resigning? Is that a standard eulogy for a Pope.

Benedict's eulogy for John Paul II was to large extent about his life. The recent eulogy of the Archbishop of Canterbury for the Queen, talking about her characteristics in general terms and conventionally Christian, seems more like what I would expect.

Rod Dreher has, correctly in my opinion, pointed out the utter pettiness and stinginess of Bergoglio going with a generic funeral homily that could have been utilized for a butler or a butcher instead of eulogizing B16’s extraordinary life and gifts.
