If all the money spent on climate change had been spent better, think of where we would be today.
It was killed by the rise of consensus thinking. Out of the box? Pound it down, we have too much vested in our pert theories!
Researchers learn more and more about less and less until they know everything about nothing at all.
Follow the grant money and you will have the answer. It’s a two fold problem. For every dollar spent on junk science there is one less dollar spent on hard science. Everything has been totally corrupted by government and leftists at universities. The DIE slugs have taken over the humanities completely and have infiltrated decision making positions in social sciences and hard sciences.
Communism abhors innovation.
When students and faculty are selected not by how smart they are, but by gender, color, or sexual orientation, it makes sense that the quality of their output will suffer.
Who will the Chinese and Russians steal their inventions from if the US isnt innovating anymore?
It’s only been 5 days since Fauci retired? Geez.
Innovation in science THAT IS RELEASED TO US has reduced to a crawl.
Corrected.
I think the low hanging fruit is gone, and now innovations, mostly incremental, occur almost entirely on the edges. They aren’t creating entirely new paths or branches.
I was discussing this the other day with someone who believed warp speed travel would someday be solved, and mankind would ultimately spread to the stars. I disagreed. Just because we can imagine something, it doesn’t mean it’s achievable.
Consider “green” energy. Many seem to believe batteries will always get substantially better, and solar and wind will provide all the energy we need. While we can make improvements, full, bright sunlight only produces so many Watts per square meter. Wishful thinking won’t change that. There’s also only so much energy in wind.
"I never saw no miracle of science that didn't go from a blessing to a curse."
Does that pass for wisdom in 2023?"
Science has squandered its credibility for a political agenda.
Achievement, research, skill and development are racist. It is whyte people stuff, and discriminates against POC.
The America Invents Act, signed by Barack Obama on 16 September 2011, switched U.S. right to the patent from a "first-to-invent" system to a "first-inventor-to-file" system for patent applications filed on or after 16 March 2013.
Many legal scholars have commented that such a change would require a constitutional amendment. Article I, Section 8, Clause 8 of the US Constitution gives Congress the power to "promote the Progress of ... useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to ... Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective ... Discoveries.” These scholars argue that this clause specifically prohibits a first-inventor-to-file system because the term "inventor" refers to a person who has created something that has not existed before.
The change has not been short of detractors. For example, the IEEE stated in its submission to the House Judiciary Committee, charged with the study of the Patent Reform Act of 2007, that "We believe that much of the legislation is a disincentive to inventiveness, and stifles new businesses and job growth by threatening the financial rewards available to innovators in U.S. industry. Passage of the current patent reform bill language would only serve to relax the very laws designed to protect American innovators and prevent infringement of their ideas."
How do you analyze 45 million papers for their disruptive qualities?
Are they suggesting we let MORE CCP spies into our universities?
Much of “science” is actually mysticism in the service of the “woke” element.
Scientific American, and now Discover, have abandoned science and are now slaves to the left.
All the advancements now are in mass mind control.
