I think you are looking at our parents generation thru rose colored glasses somewhat. Sex was just as prevalent...just hidden or not talked about. And if you don’t like sex well that’s your problem. I’ll take post era for 200 dollars Alex...
And your response is exactly illustrates what I was referencing...talking about sex makes people nervous, judgmental and so forth. It’s as normal as breathing...and has been around since the beginning. And I have no idea how long sex ed should be nor do I know exactly what the education system considers sufficient.
And STD’s and as you call them bastards...those have been here forever as well. But at least in today’s world we should be able to educate our young as to the consequences of unsafe sex and not pretend they don’t have sex. And NO I don’t think STD’s are down...but perhaps better educating our young people would help decrease that. And preaching abstinence isn’t going to solve that problem. That’s like putting your fingers in your ears and pretending you don’t hear something that might upset you.
Are you seriously suggesting that we somehow limit/control when people can or do have sex?? How is that not a dictatorial approach? How is that not foisting your values or judgements on others? Would you stand for that? I sure as he** wouldn’t.
I can’t fix the black culture and what is the norm. But sex is only part of that issue among many others.
In the end you can have your opinions on this issue and I will have mine.
How so you jump to ASSumptions about “controlling sex”, etc?
Where did I say such a thing?
As for this typical response of “it’s always been here” and “rose-colored glasses”, nonsense. And enough with the “there was immoral stuff happening” strawman. Duh. There is always immorality and bad things.
How do you account for relative lack of bastardy (yes, I’ll use a proper term) back in the days?
You surely don’t think everyone was just getting abortions, do you? Like it was that easy to get and that easy to cover up?
No, they knew sex was for reproduction, and they wanted to avoid that without moral strength if marriage. Sex isn’t just for your fun. Like eating it is a necessity, so is made pleasurable, but unlike eating (needed for the individual), sex (needed for the species) affects more than just YOU. It affects the partner, and the life you probably created. Bad sex means someone else can be ruined. Bad eating means you are ruined, but spare others.
Yes, we have opinions, but the data are there. The culture overall was much better prior to hippies and their crap. It’s what we’re fighting today, every day everywhere. I’ll listen to my mother, and believe my eyes.
Again, how much teaching does sex take? Nothing. Geesh, we need a degree in it?
Anyway, off the soapbox.
