I can’t get over how stupid he and many killers are. They tracked him by cell phone, his car, road cameras, his DNA at the crime scene. All his advanced education and Dummy doesn’t understand we live in an extremely high tech surveillance society.
And the kids are just as stupid.

It was actually a lot more complicated than that. The killer left the sheath of his knife behind, probably ripped off or fell off in the process of murdering his victims. It’s hard to get a good print off of fabric, and they may not have even had his prints in the system.
They certainly didn’t have his DNA in their system, but what they did have was his DNA off the snap button of the sheath which they paired to a close match DNA that one of his relatives uploaded to ancestry.com type site. That’s how they traced it back to him.
