Bomb cyclone
Tremblor
Just a couple of new words to muddy the language
Apparently the term "bomb cyclone" has been round since the 1940s among meteorologists.
Only in the last few years have they used it with the general public to scare us and enhance ratings.
Temblor, not “tremblor.”
They are both old professional insider terms that the press has latched onto.
I was hearing “temblor” when I moved to CA in 1973. It’s commonly heard in earthquake country where we pay attention to such things. For a long time, I thought they were misspelling “tremor.”
