Being speaker is about building consensus. Since when has Jordan built consensus. He knows if he’s speaker, and an effective one, he’ll end up being thrown on the heap of previous Republican speakers. Those to the right of him, and some exist, would eat him alive and others would pile on.
The biggest problem, IMHO, is that politically the country is too divided and past the tipping point.
There is no working together. Which is fine with me, because for the Left that means everything they want and nothing for anyone else.
As for the Right, some folks want Pres Trump. They look forward to the mean tweets and brash talk. Then we have the Country Club/RINO/ChamberOfCommerce/National Review types. Then we have folks that are Conservative but pay ZERO attention to what is going on and what their elected reps are doing , shrug their shoulders and just vote on name recognition. And within those groups, there’s no getting along and the differences are getting more defined.
