Former congressman: Omnibus bill allows feds to require remote kill switches in new cars

[EXCERPT]

According to an article written by former U.S. Representative Bob Barr, hidden away in the recently passed infrastructure bill, the very one I warned before would negatively impact drivers across the country if it were to pass, is a measure to install vehicle kill switches into every new car, truck, and SUV sold in this country. The regulation likely won’t be enforced for five years, so maybe there’s time to do something about this. …

It gets even better: Barr points out that the bill, which has been signed into law by President Biden, states that the kill switch, which is referred to as a safety device, must “passively monitor the performance of a driver of a motor vehicle to accurately identify whether that driver may be impaired.” In other words, Big Brother will constantly be monitoring how you drive. If you do something the system has been programmed to recognize as driver impairment, your car could just shut off, which could be incredibly dangerous.

There is the possibility the kill switch program might measure your driving as impaired, then when you try to start the car up again the engine won’t fire up. That would potentially leave you stranded.

But wait, there’s more. This kill switch “safety” system would be open, or in other words there would be a backdoor. That would allow police or other government authorities to access it whenever. Would they need a warrant to do that? Likely not. Even better, hackers could access the backdoor and shut down your vehicle.

No problem. The only new cars that will be built are EV’s. And no sane person would own one.

LOL, a few year ago, the school district I worked for mandated that all classrooms would be set at “67 degrees” - all year, no matter the season. Hard, acrylic boxes were put onto each thermostat so we couldn’t change the room temp.

My husband found a specialized screwdriver in his collection that took the control box right off, allowing me (and a few select others I let borrow the screwdriver) to set the temp in the classroom.

Also affectionately called "The Lucas Switch".

Every classic British vehicle I had would frequently cycle that switch.

I got you beat, I’ve got three bicycles! Try and kill switch them! Lol

And the ICE powered:
90 1500 4x4 extended long bed, rough outside, nice inside, but great mechanically. Modified (Can swap out a fuel pump in a half hour).

2 blazers, 01 and 04, nice looking and sound mechanically.

An 07 highlander in good condition.

But I would like to get a 74 or older vehicle that can’t be electronically fried in any way.

They can just shut down the pumps pushing the natural gas.

Or....someone hacks, for “ransom”, the system controlling the flow of gas, natural or otherwise, like they did with Colonial gas a couple of years back and damn near shut everything down in the SE.

And, of course, the Colonial folks had no backup, stated that they couldn’t run the pipeline manually because those that could were either dead or retired, had no legitimate cyber security protocols or safeguards, but they were diligently working on things to get it right.

I think this is part of the breathalyzer being installed in new cars to make them work. Got to blow in the tube to unlock the car.
I don’t know if this will really be installed or not be if true we know hunter Biden will need to spend his money on limousines to get around.

When we're talking about Lucas Electric, I would say "Never attribute to malice what could be explained by incompetence."

Anyone paying attention has known this from day one. The more you rely on the tech in a vehicle, the more you’re enslaved by it.

Incidentally, I predict printable step by step instructions on decoupling technical components from modern ICEs will become popular. I’ve already started investigating it for my 2017 F150

Torque converters on GM pickups have been historically a weak point. I replaced mine with a TC torque converter where the fins are brazed and not just crimped.

I have driven over 1 million miles since age 15.

I NEVER needed a sensor to tell me if I had a tire pressure issue. 13 or 14 different vehicles.

I carry 2 types of pressure gauges at all times.

To include Georgia. In fact Georgia is probably one of the biggest pushers.

We have two EV car plants coming and an EV plane plant.

Of course, the biggest reason they’re coming here is because the POS Governor is giving them billions, but it’s the taxpayers, what are they going to do about it, except re-elect the corrupt POS.

I loved my 79 Pontiac Safari Wagon. Huge. Roomy. Fantastic vehicle. V-6, adequately supplied power and drive train.

You lifted the hood and there was more open space than there was engine and components.

“Exactly why the left is pushing EVs.

I mentioned this a few times a while back and everyone thought I was paranoid.”

Works on ICE cars also.
