This might explain why Kohberger chose this particular school so far from home. Should come up at trial. Hope the SOB just outsmarted himself.

Not exactly like these two TV shows have a little similarity.
As the guest lecturer at a college Matlock is asked what a perfect crime would entail and he gives his best. A wacko student mimics it and kills someone exactly Matlock’s way, leading the police to charge Matlock with being indirectly responsible for murder.

More closely would be Criminal Minds. They had one “Unfinished Business” where they had to say “This case is like the BTK killer; is it a copycat or the aging original killer?”

But in the Criminal Minds episode “Profiling 101” Dr. Rossi is asked a number of questions by university students studying criminology who of course could be learning from his books and lectures to become serial killers themselves.
This is the episode where Rossi is revealled to be having to go to a prison on his own birthday once a year to get another name doled out from the killer’s mental list of his 101 dead women victims so Rossi can provide closure to the families. The killer sings happy birthday to him as he leaves with another name.
