But the article is correct to call out that Jews everywhere need to keep their guard up. They are always eventually blamed in some fashion for G_d knows what.
It seems the preception of the Jews, at least until the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, was that of an easy and unprotesting victim. How else to explain the Holocaust (with a few notable exceptions such as the Warsaw Ghetto uprising) when Jews boarded the trains without a fight and marched obidently into the showers. This view of Jews as weak and willing victims persists and, along with the hatred stoked by the peddlers of anti-semitism, makes them seem to be an easy target. Jews need to stand up and protect themselves. They need to send a message that they are not your grandfather’s Jews.
