“‘Too lazy, too fat, too stupid’: Home Depot founder slams workers in modern economy”
Certainly true for Americans, but I’ll put up the quality of my mostly-Mexican(or similar) built house against anything I’ve seen from the UAW, for example.
That sounds familiar.
Bob stuff it . We don’t need no stinking Mexicans....
Illegals entering the U.S., get a 500% pay increase...
Tell American workers they’re getting a 500% pay increase starting immediately and watch their work ethic change dramatically.
Yes. We’ve had excellent Mexican workers on construction jobs. They were better than their bosses.
Try to find anyone who speaks fluent English to fix your roof, or drain your septic tank, or cook your fancy restaurant meal, or mow your lawn, or build your retaining wall, or change the sheets in your hotel room
I'll have to concoct a more inappropriate comparison than the old "apples and oranges" chestnut for future analogies.
The lovely migrant laborers who eventually managed to build our last house used half of our brick to continuously rebuild the same damned mailbox over and over (with us having to continually dismantle it and re-stand our old cast iron box) and cut up a very expensive engineered glue-laminated horizontal around which half the house had been designed. We were told by the unapologetic white-trash who hired them that they "just did that", and that they had used the brick to also build mailboxes for others on that street of the development because that particular circus troupe had an old guy who just built mailboxes. They knew that the brick pallets delivered to our property were for use on our project, they just didn't care. They thought the glue-lam was perfect for making a picnic table and also some one-time use ladders, and they wanted to know where they could steal some more.
I wouldn't hire the only mexican to have an actual work ethic if he was the sole support for every orphan in mexico.
I live in SE Texas, and my house was built in 2001/2002, by, mostly Mexican/Mexican-American peoples.
They screwed me on many ways - the shower drain not actually covering the drain to my septic, more than one “corners” not being 90 degrees, the exhaust hood over my stove having literally no vent to the attic/outside, the bricks not actually being in a 2 x 1 (walking soldier) pattern, etc.
Sad thing is, I actually came out here a couple times a week while they were building it, and I didn’t catch these.
My fault for being a first time home-buyer and not catching these, I guess, but no, don’t claim Mexican’s/Central American’s do a “better” job.
