I have called bs on the “there are a lot of jobs out there”. I live in the Dallas area (McKinney). I am a young, retired Navy Commander with a BS from the US Naval Academy and an MBA. I have applied everywhere including the Home Depot. No one will hire me. I work part time in a brewery for $12 an hour right now.
I think the unemployment stats are BS
2 things
#1 is there a Navy Academy retired group in your area, they can be a big help.
#2 Wear a Navy ball hat on interviews. Soft pedal your academy degree.
I have friends and just guys, I know, who got a job from HD, Lowes and/or Ace just by having “Veteran” on their driver’s license. Once hired, HD doesn’t want them to stop working.
My wife recommended joining a service group like Kiwanis and let they spread your resume or some member might hire you. She suggested joining a Church and let people know you want a job.
At this stage, soft pedal the MBA.
Good luck, and you will find a job, maybe as a private pilot. They are hiring and training kids out here to be pilots.
I’m in my 80’s and my wife has kept me in good shape. I wear a Navy Ball hat everywhere, I still get job offers. I was just a 2nd class PO with the Security Group.
