I don’t understand Jr. He was extremely angry when his Dad left his Mom for Maples. Jr. refused to talk to him for years because of what Dad did to his Mom and his brother and sister. He talks about how his Dad’s abandonment had a profound effect on them...and then he goes and does the same thing to his wife and kids.

After which time, she filed for divorce IIRC so as to limit their kids exposure to the constant turmoil and danger engulfing their family.
