On Wednesday’s broadcast of the Fox Business Network’s “Cavuto: Coast to Coast,” Rep. Brad Wenstrup (R-OH) called for Congress and the Department of Transportation to investigate the flight issues Southwest Airlines has had, pointed out that the airline industry received large sums of taxpayer funds during the pandemic, and stated that Congress needs to know where that money went.
Wenstrup said, “The complaints that we’re hearing about are, with the refunds, for example, by law, they’re required to make the refund almost immediately for people…but you mentioned it, $54 billion from the federal government to the airline industry. So, where did that money go? And I know it’s pandemic-related. And they say that was to keep themselves afloat, but that’s a lot of money, and Southwest, like you just said, 7 billion themselves since 2020. So, what were you doing with it? And we’re hearing labor shortage, this and that. Well, that should be fairly predictable. Look, the industry is a tough industry, no doubt about it. It’s a lot of maneuvering. But they seemed to have had it mastered pretty well over the years. The storm probably had something to do with this. But we’ve got to take some action in Congress and get some oversight and investigate some of this. The U.S. Department of Transportation needs to investigate. But so do we.”

They need to investigate what everybody did with that “free money.”
I don’t blame anyone applying for it if they qualified. But the government was idiotic passing it around the way they did.
And find out where all the FTX dirty money went while you’re at it especially that which was funneled to dirty politicians who won’t return it
Why the focus on South West...It’s not like congress or the administration always tracks to make sure taxpayer money is spent properly. How about tracking the money to Ukraine or to any of the hundreds of other countries?
Congress has NEVER demanded accounting of funds spent so freely!!!
Good to see that the US Congress, a group of people that couldn’t manage a lemonade stand, will investigate how well Southwest is managing its business.

Perhaps they really should second guess Congress’s decision to hand out the money and their approach in approving any handout.

Wnenstrup is the RINO in my district. Never hear a peep from this guy on any critical ussue, Dont know if he supportrd Trump or not; I doubt it. But he certainly has time to bitch about SouthWest.
Mostly likely, they used it to keep paying their employees. If they hadn’t, there would have been a lot of complaints from said employees.
Same here. The POS voted for s386. Replace Americans with h1-b Indians bill...He will never have my vote, especially after seeing the article with him and 2 cute Cincinnati college chicks. If they only knew.
It is not about where it went (you give it to me and I spend it). It is about WHO gave away OUR money without OUR permission. Those are the names I want.
