Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said Tuesday on CNN’s “Situation Room” that the government will hold Southwest Airlines accountable as they canceled thousands of flights over a system meltdown.
Buttigieg said, “I conveyed to the CEO our expectation that they are going to go above and beyond to take care of passengers and to address this. They indicated a number of issues that they’re having with systems, legacy systems for managing their schedule and where their crews are, but the bottom line is the rest of the aviation system has been on the road to recovery since the worst days of the storm going into Friday of last week. As of today, as I’m looking at the different airlines, most of them are in the low single digits in terms of cancellation rates, averaging about five percent for all of the other airlines. For Southwest right now, we appear to be north of 70 percent. So their system really has completely melted down. And I made clear that our department will be holding them accountable for their responsibilities to customers, both to get them through this situation and to make sure that this can’t happen again.”

Did his peanuts drop?
There's a certain sort of person who likes to constantly blurt out "solutions" to problems that they completely fail to understand.
I would like to throttle such people. When I encounter them, the word "garotte" suddenly springs to mind.
I’d guess they only cancel when there’s no alternative. I’m not going to flame some low level employee for something the have no control over.
A barely functioning system can stagger on for quite a long time seeming to be fine, until something perturbs it ... then it crashes to a screeching halt.
Consider a highway with very (but not overloaded) heavy traffic ... everybody is blazing along at 80 mph ... until there's a collishion ... or somebody stomps the brakes to avoid a racoon ... and the whole thing turns into a parking lot.
Venezuela used to be a nice country.
Yup. I suspect ransomware attack. “Secretary” Pete has to know it.
Can you trust someone that would push in your stool?
Nope!
And deprive the world of his art!
From what I understand much of the problem is scheduling for staff. Kind of a big problem if it ain’t working…….at all.
The stupid little homo knows nothing about running an airline. And besides, it’s not like their male CEO took a couple of months of maternity leave in the middle of a crisis.
Another sh*tty government commie lib spending somebody else’s money. Friggin’ chimps.
Wow! There’s an ass from the past.
IIRC, Mister Buttigieg took an unbelievable 2 months "paternity" leave right in the middle of some transportation issues of national significance.
He has little standing to criticize or take of any kind action.
Frustrations are normal in airline delays, however it's critical that we do not nudge carriers to fly when conditions may not be safe.
If logistical problems evidence themselves, the company loses business, and has every interest to correct the issues without government oversight.
Buttigieg needs to butt out. Although I don’t think he ever does that.
when will government hold government accountable
us debt 31 trillion
career workers usurping congressional powers
fbi and cia in false flag and above the law election stealing
illegitimate president and VP in office
our own government and stealth online censorship with online companies
our own government planning and executing plans to murder millions of its citizens through funded wuhan research gain of function covid bioweapon and covax death clot shots
when will government hold government accountable?
Buttplug needs to wash his hands more often before he spreads that crap
He’ll write more regulation...that requires the standard ticket-price to jump 40-percent and include a ‘insurance’ policy on events like this.
What is adding to the problem is SWA has lost track of the baggage which has been piling up in the terminals. All of this should have been corrected with help from Buttigieg's Federal agency. Instead, we see Buttigieg wasting time playing the blame game. It's time he got his ass in gear or get pulled out of office!
