Democrats call for George Santos to resign seat over résumé ‘lies’
Washington Post via MSN ^ | 12-27 | Story by Ellen Francis, Liz Goodwin

In his admissions Monday night, Santos sought to explain his claims by saying that “a lot of people overstate in their résumés,” and he downplayed the impact of his actions. He did briefly address how his wealth has skyrocketed in recent years, allowing him to lend hundreds of thousands of dollars to his campaign.

Santos told City and State NY that after different jobs, he opened his own firm and “it just worked because I had the relationships and I started making a lot of money. And I fundamentally started building wealth.”

“I decided I’d invest in my race for Congress,” he added. “There’s nothing wrong with that.”

Santos also suggested that his soon-to-be colleagues in Congress could not withstand such scrutiny, saying if members of the media “dig deep” on other lawmakers’ “deepest secrets,” then “we wouldn’t have a single congressman in the House, and I bet you we wouldn’t have a single senator in the Senate.”

“GOP Congressman-elect George Santos, who has now admitted his whopping lies, should resign,” tweeted Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.), urging Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy to call a vote to expel Santos if he does not quit.

Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-Tex.) said that if Santos takes his new seat, it would set a precedent encouraging others to seek public office by falsifying their credentials, while Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) accused Santos of “defrauding the voters of Long Island about his ENTIRE resume.”

McCarthy (R-Calif.) has so far not responded to allegations that Santos misled voters about key details of his biography, which were first reported in a New York Times story last week.

Now that Santos has apologized “if I disappointed anyone by résumé embellishment”

Looks like lying, cheating Dems are jealous of Santos’ smooth style, as he won his election via (extreme) resume enhancement.
Dems are steamed that they are so stupid, that they did no opposition research on Santos. Who actually ran 2 years ago too.

“Democrats call for George Santos to resign seat over résumé ‘lies’”

Actually, the ONLY person that should be resigning is the DNC chairman, who didn’t even have his staff spend 5 minutes vetting this guy.

I don’t give a flip what the Dems say they want, but from the beginning, when these facts about him begin coming out, I’m thinking it’s just a matter of time before he resigns from office.

Too bad. We needed that number of elected Repubs, but his lies are too numerous, too strategic and too well known especially for a political novice.

He out-democratted the democrats. Simply amazing. I don’t approve but I certainly find the irony soothing.

Apply Democrat rules

Lies are no big deal if it wins them the seat.

He should stay.

Are the Democrats really going there? Their president is a huge walking lie. Everything the man has ever said about his life is false.

Now apply the same rule to Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, “Da Nang Dick” Blumenthal, former Gov. of New Mexico Bill Richardson, and all the rest of the lying sacks of shit politicians on both sides of the aisle.

As far as Santos goes, it takes a liar to beat a liar. Santos outdid the Dems at their lying assz game. I’m getting some good laughs at this.

If rotten Pelosi was still speaker, she would have found some dirty way to get Santos kicked out, or never seated in the first place.

Can we start playing for keeps starting with this joker, please? We can primary him next time but we need his vote for now. Say what you want about the rat bastards on the other side, but they’re good about circling the wagons with the rare exceptions such as Al Franken and Andrew Cuomo

He should not resign. If he were a Dem they would make every excuse in the world for him. They only develop moral outrage when it involves a Republican.
