House GOP targets China connections in clean energy spending

WASHINGTON - House Republicans are readying to attack the Biden administration's efforts to expand U.S. clean energy as enriching the Chinese government.

Republican members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee said Friday they planned to investigate the administration's "pro-China policies" when they take control of the House in January.

"Since Day one in office, President Biden has been giving China a pass, particularly with his rush-to-green agenda," the committee members said.

Republicans singled out a Department of Commerce report earlier this month that found Chinese firms were circumventing U.S. tariffs on Chinese solar panels by running their supply chains through Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam.

And they are targeting a $200 million grant to Houston-based Microvast, a battery manufacturer with factories in China, to build a battery plant in the United States in partnership with General Motors.

In a letter to Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm earlier this month, Reps. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-W.V., and Morgan Griffith, R-Va., argued Microvast could present a national security risk due to its operations in China, where foreign companies are often required to share technology with Chinese counterparts.

"The Chinese Communist Party’s laws and regulations require U.S. based businesses operating in China to partner with local Chinese entities, whereby confidential technological and proprietary business information is siphoned to the Chinese Communist Party," they wrote.

Microvast did not immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday morning.

I’m with you. I am SO tired of all the theater and NOT ONE of them have any intention of behaving responsibly and dispensing true justice to all the criminals in DC. I’ve gotten to the point where I’m beyond caring.

I feel sorry for my kids, but they are voting for all this.

The Chinese are all for green energy - for us. Just another step in making us feeble in the world.

China is taking over Africa and in some parts enslaving the locals with armed gangs. Even children have to work the cobalt mines and are forced to work in toxic conditions. China does not have to follow any climate change rules and always violates human rights by beating and forcing the workers to work dangerous conditions.

All these elites who support climate change rules and going electric are in fact supporting slavery and genocide of Africans and others. Reporters try to cover the story only to be beaten or killed.

This massive road that China is building to Europe and Africa is nothing more than making a highway for future invasion. Blackrock chairman says we are under the New World Order. What is happening to Africa will happen to the rest of us. The elites are selling us out but they believe they will be safe. They are delusional because China will destroy them last.
