Historical reasons. Policies of the Tsars, Stalin…. They hate the Russians far more than they dislike the Nazis, with whom they worked to bring German Jews to Palestine prior to WWII.

I get the reasons for the local hatred. It’s more a question of why we have people with that same blood feud at high-levels in our government, making decisions that can easily lead to WW3.
In the past, they would have spent their careers as translators, and nothing more.
