I hope this story is fake—but with the Nordstream attack it sounds very believable. My worry is that Russia may try the same thing with us—using Iranian proxies for 9-11 Terrorist acts here in the homeland. Sneak teams in across the border. Maybe a suitcase nuke? or some poison gas, or a sickness that could wreck us. Maybe crash a space station on New York? Yes, 2023 is going to be interesting. Hoof and Mouth disease could take out our whole beef industry, bird flu make chickens a thing of the past. Our open society could be hard to keep safe from a well financed foe.

Anyone wanting to attack Russia would attack defense or infrastructure, not shopping outlets. The sudden trend of Russian shopping malls burning down is simple insurance fraud. Since western companies pulled out due to sanctions, half the stores closed. Even the Russian stores that remained can't source the western brands they depend on to draw shoppers. Hopefully those insurance companies blame the fires on the war or fraud and refuse to pay.

I question whether it is even a cold version of Mexico. But it does have nukes. And a military that is arguably somewhat better than the cartels south of the border - well, they're in charge of territory on both sides of our border now, aren't they.
