I don’t understand how this plays out. If McCarthy can't win within 218 votes in the first few ballots, a small group of RINOS will likely work with DEMS to select one of the furthest left Republicans in the House as Speaker. We could end up with a Speaker that makes McCarthy look like a rock ribbed conservative. Essentially, the Dems will decide the agenda. That's the "doomsday scenario".

That is a scare tactic. The RINOs wont do this and put the Dems essentially in charge.
It’s unprecedented and unlikely to happen unless this drags on for months then maybe.
McCarthy should just step down and I think he will

McCarthy sold out conservatives in the 2022 midterm so that he could continue to sell them out in the new congress
