Student borrowers reminded not to start repayments in January

The federal government has reminded student-loan borrowers that they don't need to worry about repaying their debt in January.

While lawsuits against President Joe Biden's targeted loan relief are pending in court, the Department of Education pointed out that borrowers can hold off on making payments for a little while longer.

"You will NOT have to make your loan payments that would have been restarted in January," the Education Department said in an email sent to borrowers Friday morning.

"We don't think it is right to ask borrowers to pay on loans they wouldn't have to pay were it not for the lawsuits challenging the program," the email said.

If the court were to rule in favor of the administration, "millions of borrowers would be making payments they may not owe, or payments that are higher than they should be," the email said.

Payments will restart 60 days after the high court announces its ruling. If the court doesn't decide by June 30, payments will restart on August 31, according to the email.

Meanwhile, millions of Americans who have applied for loan relief are waiting for a decision: They were told their debt-forgiveness applications were approved, but that the government can't legally void their debt while the lawsuits are ongoing.

Government in DC versus the American people.

Wait, hold up.

You know what? Forget it. Laws don’t matter anymore.

I’m telling everyone they don’t need to pay taxes this year.

Remember when Obama told people to not go to Las Vegas ? Yeah that apple didn’t fall far.

But by that time imagine the booze, drugs and sex party supplies the money to which the cash can go.

Amazing how fast a government agency can act when it has nothing to do with security for the country - only feel good progressive ideas get any attention. PLEASE don’t make your payments is a priority!!!

Yep! That’s the reminder I’d love to get.

“This is just a reminder from your local lender that you should NOT pay your regular payment next month. Just as you have not paid it for the past two years. We have confidence that ‘dear leader’ will find a way to transfer your obligations to the guy who repaired your frozen and burst plumbing pipes at 11:00 a.m. this morning. Don’t you feel lucky to find you were his 46th repair call of the day?”.

“According to our information, you have purchased tickets to Aruba for tomorrow. Please enjoy your “me, myself, and I, holiday vacay” and should you need additional funds, please feel free to reach out to one of our friendly representatives at 1-YOU-ARE-FK’D”.

“P.S. Please take extra care of your luggage and should a bald and bearded lady happen to mistakenly grab your expensive traveling case instead of her own, please call the above number so we can assist you personally. Calling the local LEO will just slow down the resolution process. Have a happy Shawana”!

“We don’t think it is right to ask borrowers to pay on loans...(they voluntarily took out as adults).

I don’t think it’s right to ask taxpayers to pay on loans they didn’t take out. But I’m a nobody, not the exalted U.S. Department of Education.

President: don’t pay your debts! Its a winning political strategy!

We are watching in real time the steady decline of the US Dollar and collapse of the Republic.

That program was poll tested by Dem consultants to determine which amount would buy the most votes (net) compared to how many voters it might drive to the R side.

It seemed to work pretty well for 2022 (then got derailed by the legal system).

I can see it making a comeback in 2024.

They do owe payments. These are their debts.

Yet another way America is being destroyed.

If you voluntzrily take out govt-backed loans for personal schooling, for tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars, dont worry about paying them back

If you’re a small business, or ran a garage sale this year however, armed irs agents want to talk to you...

Biden is smarter than he looks. He knows he can promise student debt relief even though he knew the courts wouldn’t let him. And then Democrats take the Senate. He knows the Hunter laptop case will go nowhere. The corporate media has his back. He can sniff little girls and Democrats applaud.

He makes me sick as do most Democrats.

The “big education” cycle has been a big winner for Dems.
It’s basically funneling govt money via tuition payments to institutions then paid to profs and admins who donate it to Dems.

I’m not sure it was Biden’s idea (actually developed by Democrat consultants) but it definitely worked well.

We’ll see it again in 2024.
