We can thank Watergate and the fall of Richard Nixon for numerous words and quotes that continue to shape public understanding of political scandals. There’s “hush money” and “Deep Throat,” a “modified limited hangout” and “Follow the money.”
But half a century later, two other Watergate phrases are key to comprehending the FBI’s sordid role in suppressing The Post’s initial coverage of Hunter Biden’s laptop.
The first is, “What did the president know and when did he know it?”
In a 1973 Watergate hearing, the question about the president’s knowledge was asked by Sen. Howard Baker to White House counsel John Dean. Essentially, it was whether Nixon knew about the plan to break in to the Democratic Party’s offices, the so-called “third-rate burglary.”
At first blush, the question would seem to have no relevance to the FBI’s use of Twitter and other social media platforms to censor reports on Biden family corruption. After all, the president in the fall of 2020 was Donald Trump.
But that’s exactly the point and a key element that makes the evolving scandal so distinct. It shows the FBI, the nation’s premier law enforcement agency, secretly working to defeat the sitting president of the United States and elect Joe Biden.
Recall that, under former Director James Comey’s band of dirty cops, the agency had done something similar in 2016: It spied on the Trump campaign and many top FBI leaders actively worked to flip the election to Hillary Clinton.
So, unlike Nixon during Watergate, Trump not only didn’t know about the “dirty tricks,” he was the victim of them. I am not disagreeing with the facts mentioned above. However, just saying ‘FBI’ is clearly too narrow. There were multiple three letter acronyms involved in the behavior, and it could be best out as an intelligence/security based operation. Overall, it makes sense not in a ‘Donald Trump’ or ‘Joe Biden’ but an autonomous government versus ‘the people’. Government, that includes the three letter acronyms and ‘homeland security’ do not want to be answerable to the people, or have their finances cut. They are acting autonomously to protect themselves and the big corporations that they infuse taxpayer money. This is why I say now “it’s a government of the government, by the government, for the government”.
The real issue is that so power exists within government, that when it acts autonomously, we the people have no rights. We have been disenfranchised completely, with now ‘rigged elections-government interference, constant government propaganda ‘media control and censorship’. Without the First Amendment rights, and free and fair voting, there can be no Republic. We have devolved to a fascist state.
Now, thus far the robbing of the treasury part of collapsing government has mostly benefited the democrats. Therefore, they are comfortable with the new fascist state and principles. I think I might have heard a Heil Biden sometime during a recent discussion about Jan 6th.

The FBI and the media are criminally complicit in election fraud getting Biden elected.

Democrats who cared about Watergate should have been furious about what happened to Trump in Russiagate and the 2020 election. They were not. “Orange man bad!” and “No enemies to the left!” summed up their opinions.
