Only a few weeks ago COVID-19 positive Chinese teacher Yang Zengdong and her husband would probably have ended up in a makeshift quarantine centre with patchy heating, sparse bedding and overwhelmed toilets, but today they are isolating at home.
Living in a post "zero-COVID" China, despite the anxiety about being infected and rapidly rising cases, hasn't been too bad, says Yang.
"I wasn't too worried (when we tested positive), I was quite well prepared with food and medicine," she said.

In N. California, we have had a lot of cases of the current variant since Thanksgiving. We are just taking it easy for a few days to a week during its visit. Then, it leaves us. I also, got a mild case of gout (no personal nor family history of gout.
This variant is like having a severe head cold and some minor body aches.
Our family members in the SW and MW are seeing and having a similar variant visit them. Their ages are mid 50 to mid 80.
No one is going to a hospital nor seeing a doctor. Baby aspirin, Afrin spray, calcium tabs and vitamin D and a lot of liquids while hunkering down.
Within 6-8 days, the variant burns itself up, and we get slowly back to normal.
I have had COVID 4 times. It is so mild now all I get are a few days of sniffles and also lose all taste and smell. It takes a while to get the taste back.
If someone chooses to go into lockdown, fine. It’s the compelled lockdowns.
