Larry Hogan bids sad farewell as Md. governor as he watches his state, GOP drifting away from him

As Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan prepares to exit the governor’s mansion and end his eight-year stint in the unusual role of a Republican running a deep-blue state, he is shaking his head in disbelief at what’s become of the GOP.

Mr. Hogan, who was never a fan of former President Donald Trump, sees the Republican Party suffering the consequences of the Trump brand. And nowhere are those consequences more apparent than in Maryland, he said, where the return of complete Democratic control of state government ushers in fears that runaway spending will eat up the $2.5 billion budget surplus and $3 billion rainy day fund that Mr. Hogan leaves behind.

“This is the worst period in time we’ve had for the Republican Party,” Mr. Hogan said when he sat down with The Washington Times for an interview in his State House office. “Biden is so unpopular. Seventy percent of people think that the country is heading in the wrong direction and yet we did not win the Senate, we didn’t get any governors, and we barely got the House back.”

Have lived in MD for 40 years. As pretty as some of it is including the Chesapeake Bay, it has always been a left leaning state and now with Moore coming in as gov, who wants to be the Gavin Newsome of the east coast and the Dems controlling all of the legislature, the state will go hard left, abortion, climate change, taxes, marijuana, just go down the list. A lot of conservatives and republicans are just choosing to leave, us included as we just finished building a house in SC and plan to more there permanently in a couple of years.

Do us a favor Larry and take a dirt nap. At least that will spare us years of seeing you foaming at the mouth for CNN or MSNBC.

When I was a kid, Hogan had an alley which was a nasty place strewn with garbage. Now Hogan has a state which is a nasty place strewn with garbage. Now that is progress, Maryland!

“RINOs need to go”

Look, I am in favor of destroying the GOP lock, stock, and barrel.

My question to you and anyone else who thinks the GOP is salvageable is, after you get rid of the “RINOs”, what is your plan to form a national majority out of what’s left?

If they capitalize “black,” they should capitalize “white,” but many publications today only capitalize “black.” Previously, “black” and “white” were lower-case while “Negro” and “Caucasian” were capitalized.

It’s curious that seven out the ten richest counties in the US are suburbs of DC. I simply can’t understand it.

Because they are full of wealthy DC lobbyists and bureaucrats.

I know this guy is a rino but he’s right about the republican party. The election was a pathetic performance across the board.
