Being “gullible” as you say is to underestimate Russias warmongering behavior.
You don’t seem to realize how dangerous the soviet mafia regime in the Kremlin actually is...
America was gullible right before WWII started, believing Hitler would never invade anyone... and that we shouldn’t meddle in Europe about anything. We thought isolationism was the key. And look what that got us to.. We paid a way higher price than if we would have been more pro-active in the first place.

By doing nothing, the war caught up with us instead - in a harder way! Japan bombed Pearl Harbor - a massacre on Americans, and then Hitler Germany declared war against the USA. If the USA had acted previously in a more boss-like pro active way, we wouldn’t have lost tens of thousands of American boys.

Anticipation is he key. Not putting our heads in the sand ignoring the Russian mad-house. If we do, it might be too late, with a very hight price to pay - again.

"Being “gullible” as you say is to underestimate Russias warmongering behavior."

If you believe that Russia is more of a threat to our national security than an open southern border, China or Iran, then you are gullible.
