Pelosi in Zelensky invitation: US, world ‘in awe’ of Ukrainians’ heroism

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said the U.S. and world are “in awe of the heroism of the Ukrainian people” in a letter inviting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to address a Joint Meeting of Congress on Wednesday.

“America and the world are in awe of the heroism of the Ukrainian people,” Pelosi wrote in the letter. “In the face of Putin’s horrific atrocities, Ukrainian freedom fighters have inspired the world with an iron will and an unbreakable spirit — fighting back against Russia’s brutal, unjustified invasion.”

Pelosi’s letter, dated Tuesday, formally invited Zelensky to address Congress in-person as Ukraine’s conflict with Russia continues. The Speaker released the letter to the public early Wednesday morning, confirming Zelensky’s visit after several reports that said the Ukrainian president was expected to be in the Capitol Wednesday.

Zelensky will also meet with President Biden at the White House on Wednesday. The two are scheduled to hold a joint press conference following their meeting.

“...“in awe of the heroism of the Ukrainian people”...”

Yes, the people have responded well.

But what about their leader, Zelensky. He has outlawed the opposition party and imprisoned some of their leadership. He has closed all opposition media, he has closed churches, he has built one of the strongest propaganda programs ever, he has taken on dictatorial powers. If the war ended tomorrow, would he give them up????

For one, that’s the Mercator projection. For starters, it makes Greenland look enormous, and is utterly disingenuous when comparing the actual landmasses.

Ukraine is approximately 603,550 sq km, while Russia is approximately 17,098,242 sq km, making Russia 2,733% larger than Ukraine.

But what about their leader, Zelensky. He has outlawed the opposition party and imprisoned some of their leadership. He has closed all opposition media, he has closed churches,

Zelensky imprisoned ONE pro-Russian opposition leader who happens to be also related to Putin.

Zelensky outlawed 10 pro-Russian parties out of more than 300.

No churches were closed, they were told they could not officially belong to the Moscow Patriarch.

And at 75 people per square kilometer as of 2021, Ukraine outpaces Russia’s population density of 9 per square kilometer by over 700%.

Using landmass as a metric of determining one country’s “heroism” when fighting another country has no rational basis.

(And again, it doesn’t refute my point that your implied contention of this being a solo conflict between Ukraine and Russia is ludicrous.)

You're conveniently ignoring the rest of the post:

When it comes to ground forces, Ukraine only has around 1,117 infantry fighting vehicles, 368 main battle tanks, and 268 armored personnel carriers, whereas Russia has 17,677 infantry fighting vehicles, and 17,370 main battle tanks, and 14,991 armored personnel carriers. The number of aircraft at the disposal of the Russian army was close to 4.2 thousand, while Ukrainian armed forces possessed almost 320 aircraft.

Which, to my prior point, conveniently ignores all NATO support given to Ukraine in terms of soft and hard power.

The Gateway Pundit reported today that Zelenskyy declared ban on all opposition parties until the existing martial law is over. The excuse used to ban opposition parties is his own accusation of them as “pro-Russian.” The list of parties banned under this order includes all opposition parties, as reported by The Gateway Pundit, including the largest opposition party Opposition Platform-For Life (OPFL), which represents millions of Ukrainians.

If a similar action were to happen in the United States, it would be as though Biden banned the Republicans Party.
Zelenskyy complemented his ban on opposition parties with another policy that ends independent reporting of news on TV channels in the country. He signed a law allowing what is titled “unified information policy” – i.e. merging all national TV news channels into one platform.

Citing martial law, the decree signed by the leader on March 19 says the goal is to combat “active dissemination of misinformation by the aggressor state (Russia).”

Yahoo News featured a story by The Week that cited Zelenskyy calling the media control measure necessary to counter Russian misinformation and “tell the truth about the war.”
Banning opposition parties and taking control of the news channels mark the end of democracy in Ukraine, leaving it a one-state party with no free speech and a dictator instead of a president representing the people of Ukraine.

Gateway Pundit is wrong/lying. Post a link to a credible news article that says Zelensky banned ALL opposition parties. 11 Opposition parties that were pro-russian were banned. The largest one was run by Medvechuk, who is related to Putin.
