Stanford University released a guide this week on “harmful” language that it wants to remove from its online properties — noting that the term “American” is a no-go.

The language guide, which was published Monday, aims to “eliminate many forms of harmful language, including racist, violent, and biased … language in Stanford websites and code.”

Perhaps offensive American taxpayer money shouldn’t be used to fund Stanford’s research programs or pay for student aid/loans.

But only in its un-hyphenated form.

This is almost always the result of pressure from left wing activist groups and a corporation or university relenting. Said group then marks it as a ‘success’ and uses it for fundraising.

Under a section titled “Imprecise Language,” the guide advises readers to replace the term “American” with “U.S. citizen.”

“[‘American’] often refers to people from the United States only, thereby insinuating that the US is the most important country in the Americas,” the packet reasons, noting that the region actually includes 42 countries between North and South America.

How about that insulting song:

God Bless America.

That should blow about a dozen Stanford language fuzes.

I thought people at Stanford were smart... and maybe they are in a very stupid way. Smart people can act very stupidly. But they convince themselves that they are acting smartly, even though they are acting real stupid. Stupidity is like a rock they are tied too. But they don’t know they are tied to a stupid rock. That is why really smart people never believe they are that smart, whereas smart stupid people always believe they are smart.

Many of them are -- mostly in STEM. The problem is how little wisdom you would find at Stanford.

Bunch of over-educated un-American, commie-addicted, morally-handicaped, mental midget.

Well, so says this proud United Statesian.

Here for a copy of the document as saved by the WSJ: https://s.wsj.net/public/resources/documents/stanfordlanguage.pdf

Pretty funny they have to hide their new “standards” behind a paywall. Retards.

“[‘American’] often refers to people from the United States only, thereby insinuating that the US is the most important country in the Americas,”

No, the insinuation is that the US was the first independent nation in the Americas and therefor was the only country in the Americas. Since we were first, we got to pick our name—the only nation in the Americas with ‘America’ in its name.

The UK issued the very first postage stamps. They are the only nation whose postage doesn’t carry the nation’s name. Same idea.

All federal funding to the school should be stopped. The same needs to occur for any school that takes similar actions against the American people
