If you repeal the 17th then the legislatures could go back to making appointments to the U.S. Senate so people like McConnell could be replaced and dislodged.

It’s nearly impossible to replace incumbent senators. It’s a real problem I think...

Only because voters have, seemingly, ZERO desire to give someone else a chance. They perpetuate the cycle.

Why would anyone, unless they have the money, put themselves out there to be considered if the machine is going to do everything in its power to crush them.

And while I would love to see the 17th Amend repealed, that doesn’t mean the “just as corrupt, if not more” folks that make up the state legislatures would be sending anyone better. But I’d for damned sure he willing to go to that than what we have now.
