watch CNBC for a couple days, especially the interviews with corporate CEOs. It’s amazing how many are from overseas. many speak in broken english.

Trump was the first President since perhaps Eisenhower to be an economic nationalist. From Lincoln to Eisenhower, the GOP was the party of high tariffs and largely supported by manufacturing and commercial interests. The high tariffs enabled America to become the industrial powerhouse that helped win the two world wars. Now we see big chunks of American industry owned at least partially by China, a country with the goal of pushing the U.S. out of its role as a world superpower. During the height of the second Gulf War, the military had to purchase ammunition from Israel since our domestic manufacturers could not produce enough.

We may be lucky that the Russian Army appears incompetent and that the Chinese Army has almost no combat experience. But this country's streak of luck will run out someday.
