Knowing Donald Trump, if he were to lose the GOP primary to whoever (let's pretend DeSantis), which is more likely:

A. Accepting the election results and congratulating the winner
B. Saying it was rigged and running third party

I like the guy, but I'm not naïve. Trump is easily spiteful enough to run third party/independent if he loses.

Many states have "sour grapes" laws that prevent someone defeated in the primaries from running as an independent. It is possible that if Trump loses, one of his sons could run as a third party candidate. However, some states make third party ballot access very difficult

Perhaps a third party candidate could try to take the Libertarian Party nomination to gain ballot access.

And opens the door for a second Biden term.

“Trump is easily spiteful enough to run third party/independent if he loses.”

We are certainly suggestible today, with the source being Juan the worm Williams.

Now what would prompt Trump to believe, if he can’t win the GOP primary, that he could win the general election.

Easily spiteful???

Go somewhere else, troll.

I'd add a C:

C. Give the most tepid congratulations possible to the winner, and tell his supporters it is up to them to decide whether or not to support the winner. In essence, tell them not to vote for the winner without actually saying it out loud.

Minor caveat:. He might also hold the GOP hostage by demanding the keynote address at the Convention as a condition of his supporting the nominee.
