Elon Musk should step down as head of Twitter, according to a poll conducted by the platform's billionaire owner on Twitter.
In the poll, 57.5% said they believe Musk should step down, while 42.5% believe he should remain as head of the social media giant.
More than 17.5 million users voted in the poll, which Musk ran from his own account.
Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll.

Shortly after posting the poll, Musk tweeted that "as the saying goes, be careful what you wish, as you might get it" and "those who want power are the ones who least deserve it."
The billionaire has said he will abide by the results of the poll, but has not commented since the results became final Monday morning.

I voted stay. I must say I don’t understand his move at all. Seems to be the first truly irrational thing I’ve seen him do.
I wonder if this survey was a bot trap
Sounds like a real scientific poll. Considering the number of bots and that Twitter is still a left wing sewer. Take the same poll at Truth Social and I would imagine it would be reversed.
According to millions of bots. Smoking out bots is what Elon is doing. I wouldn’t be surprised if he “steals” the election at the last minute.
My thoughts exactly. An easy way to find hidden bots.
“More than 17.5 million users”
How many of which are fake users/bots or owned or low key controlled by the same person or organization.
Unless he has something wild up his sleeve... like selling it to Trump. Surely he wouldn’t have even started the poll if he didn’t already know how it would turn out and didn’t already have a plan.
He can’t manage day to day operations of Twitter and maintain control of Space X and others. He can guide them while not CEO.
Elon will end up being an election denier.
I did too. Now what?
If he were to step aside, he would put a manager in place that carries out his plans for Twitter.
Rest assured, he already has plans for this.
I wouldn't say that Musk is a micromanager...but people who work for him might.;-)
Musk isn't irrational. Count on it.
Want to fire him? Enclose a check for $50 billion and he’ll consider it.
Be funny if he graciously abides by the bots, and then announces that President Trump is going to be Twitter's new boss.
If a man wanted to break the internet, there you go.
Musk isn't about to let a bunch of bots and free-speech-killing Lefties make decisions for him.
Would be awesome if true, guess we will see.
I think a lot of people just want him focused on SpaceX, and they think someone else will run Twitter day to day.
Shortly after posting the poll, Musk tweeted that “as the saying goes, be careful what you wish, as you might get it” and “those who want power are the ones who least deserve it.”

Two clues. He already has a CEO in mind and the leftists ain’t gonna like the choice. The choice is someone who didn’t want the job.
Space X isn’t a public company so that’s no one’s business but his and his investors.
