I don’t know about Eastwood’s other women, but I don’t believe Sondra Locke had anything to complain about.
She was married to a gay man the entire time she was with Eastwood and remained married to him until she died.
The husband lived in one of Eastwood’s houses while she was with Eastwood.
She financially supported her husband their entire marriage and left him everything when she died.

Steve McQueen was an ex-Marine, a political conservative, pro Vietnam, carried a pistol (he learned he was on Charlie Manson's list), became (at this airfield) a born again Christian, and he mysteriously used to demand big lots of things like electric razors and bluejeans from movie studios when he was filming. It was revealed that he sent the lots of stuff to a boys home that he had lived in, he made visits to the home all of his life and answered every letter that the boys ever sent him.

McQueen and his girlfriend, a stunning model who would become his third wife, slept on a four-poster brass bed amid his vintage motorcycles and airplane parts. But life was good: On Saturday nights, the couple kicked back in their hangar -- really a big storage shed -- to watch "The Love Boat" and "Fantasy Island" on a black-and-white TV. Dinner was often a feed at the local Chinese restaurant. "It was a sweet time in a sweet place," said Barbara McQueen, the last woman in his life. "We just loved it." snip But Dewey's warmest memories were of the after-hours get-togethers and McQueen's fondness for Old Milwaukee beer, an inexpensive brew known as an acquired taste. "He was in character drinking that awful stuff," Dewey said. "It just brings a smile to my face."
A reform school alumnus with a well-deserved bad-boy reputation, McQueen is said to have mellowed by the time he touched down in Santa Paula. When a medical emergency required two friends in town to leave for a week, McQueen volunteered to care for their seven children. When a young man who worked at the airport died suddenly, McQueen paid off his family's mortgage."

Most of the leading men today, the younger men especially, are a little bit effeminate. There’s no toughness. Steve McQueen and Clint Eastwood don’t compare with John Wayne.

One can see the subtle differences from when many of the writers, directors, actors, and many other Hollywood jobs were filled with men, men who had lived real lives with real and challenging childhoods, and many being in wars.

Rough American lives as kids, manly jobs as teens and men, lots of military service.

Thank you so much for that. I never knew any of that. It was never in any of the books I read about him and I read so many about him years ago, the memory is dim.

I have clippings in an old scrapbook when he went to Tijuana for cancer treatment and when he passed. I remember in one book him asking for help to get into his plane one last time as he wanted to take one more flight but I think he had to call it off as getting in the plane was even too much for him.

More coming back to me now as I read these postings. The wife Barbara with him in Santa Paula was after Ali McGraw.. I have a book his first wife Neile Adams wrote - a beautiful woman who adored the man.

I remember he got an Academy Award for The Sand Pebbles - the best one of his movies IMO. The guy was really a natural!!

The singer Toby Keith was working with Clint on a movie and realized clint was 86. He asked how do you do it?

Clint replied “ I don’t let the old man in”
