The Washington Post is crediting President Donald Trump’s 2020 migration cuts for rising wages and improving workplace technology in 2022.
But the credit for raising wages is portrayed as blame for creating a “shortage of immigrants”:
The slowdown in legal immigration began well before the pandemic, [and] the covid-19 crisis intensified the process as the Trump administration effectively halted the flow of foreign-born workers into the United States
The list of supposed problems caused by the “shortage of migrants” includes wage gains for ordinary Americans, according to the December 15 article:
“It’s been three years of trying absolutely everything,” said [Kansas hotel manager Alonzo] Arteaga, who has raised pay by about $3 an hour and offers discounted monthly rates to employees. “It feels like the workers really aren’t there.”
“Labor force shortages …. [prompt] companies [to] raise wages to compete for a smaller pool of workers and to keep existing staff,” the article said, admitting the Econ. 101 law of supply and demand applies to America
Americans also gained because employers were forced to buy productivity-boosting machines that will help Americans do more work — and earn more wages — each day, the newspaper says.
The Post spotlighted a farm in Texas that grows greens, onions, cabbages, and melons. it is now paying higher wages and “doubling down on automation and investing in machines that can wash, cut and bag vegetables,” the Post admitted.

Somebody’s getting fired.
Businesses have too much competition from government who pays workers more not to work.
Hard to compete with that.
Yep. But I think tech innovation in workplace needed to happen anyway.
What we need are more single or near single income families as a viable lifestyle.
Our overworked unstable families are what are creating social instability.
In other news, the Washington Post discovered the law of supply and demand has not been repealed and that rain is wet.
The Amazon Compost would change its tune if a busload of illiterate,disease ridden wetbacks were dumped in McLean, Virginia or Chevy Chase,Maryland.

The U.S. has plenty of able bodied people who can work, the last thing we need is more unskilled immigrants. Half our country is sitting home drawing welfare while smoking dope and cranking out more welfare babies. Stop paying them to do that and the country will have more than enough workers. Deport the illegals and cut the grifters off of welfare, they'll go to work when they need the money.
Paying our own not to work while allowing a flood of illegals because "we need workers" is the height of stupidity. Cutting the deadbeats off of their welfare might piss them off enough to not vote for a democrat so it'll never happen.

Trump’s been out for almost two years and Biden opened up the floodgates soon after Jan 2021.
How is this raising wages?
Maybe most of the Boomers are retiring is the real answer.
In any case, put Americans to work, not foreigners.
