House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy said Friday that five conservative hardliners have not budged in their opposition to his speaker’s bid, offering dire warnings that their hard-fought Republican majority could be derailed if they don’t bend.
“Well, we’re still continuing to talk, but they have not moved,” McCarthy told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt. “And the difficulty here is that you know, we are the only Republican entity stopping the Biden administration. But we’re also going to be the only ones that can move forward. But it would delay everything, getting committees up and running, being able to do the things that you know we need to get done from the very beginning.”

The election of speaker could go on for months if Rep. McCarthy doesn't concede.
There is precedent: It last happened like this in the 1850's I believe.

This is what he gets for dumping millions on beating MAGA challengers in the primaries while leaving those same MAGA challengers high an dry financially during the general election.

We need someone from a Red State. Gaetz would well. Jordan would be better.
Anything being said now means nothing, there are no votes taking place. I think this is being done to make McCarthy appear to satisfy the conservatives in the house and buy them a few capitulations before the base turns on them. I think they are hoping their “show” investigations, and “show” votes will hold enough support.
We need someone from a Red State. Gaetz would well. Jordan would be better.

Maybe Renee Ellmers. former NC Congress Critter and paramour, can give him a big boost in ratings by letting her former comrades know how effective he was in his congressional “duties” while they both “served” together.
