The mother of a 15-year-old girl who died of a suspected fentanyl overdose in a high school restroom has filed a negligence and wrongful-death lawsuit against the Los Angeles Unified School District.

The lawsuit claims school officials knew there were “rampant drug sales” and prior overdoses on campus but failed to implement safety measures.

Police have said Ramos and the classmate bought what they thought was a painkiller off campus and then took the drug on campus and lost consciousness.

Exactly what type of "safety measures" should the school district implement to stop this?

Any teacher or school employee with illicit drugs on campus is fired, and arrested. Any unauthorized person on campus is arrested. Cameras for the areas adjacent to the school to monitor any illegal activity. Two armed guards on duty during school hours.

I worked in a school in a western state. At least one member of the staff taught small children that Marijuana was a medicine. Most of the staff members leaned way to the social libertarian left.

Your "safety measure" works only if the student-body is frisked every 15 minutes. About as helpful and effective as declaring the school a "gun-free zone."

With all the fentanyl deaths happening no one in his or her right mind should obtain any pain medication including over the counter medications from anything other than a pharmacy.

I personally know a mom whose then 21 year old son died of fentanyl od while in a Palm Springs treatment center. She filed suit and I think that she won.

and the settlement comes from the taxpayers and the LAUSD goes on about their lives uneffected
