A point I was going to make, but you beat me to it! But are citizenships applications public records open for all to see and ‘investigate’? Otherwise how do these ‘prominent attorneys’ get access to his application?

Pretty sure they are, at least after a certain period of time, since that’s a pretty standard thing for genealogists to dig in.
