What a snarky and unnecessary comment. I have no idea of the family’s political leanings and it has no bearing on the case. The incident that was subject to the lawsuit happened almost six years ago. The family suffered great financial and reputational harm. The family reported that the stress hastened the death of two elder family members.
Gibson bakery, which had been a long-timed business in the community for decades was on the verge of bankruptcy and seriously in debt due to the actions of Oberlin administrators and students. Students at the college still refuse to frequent the business so their business losses will extend into the future. The family were due every dime of the jury’s award. By the time they clear their debt and make all the several different family members whole, the sum will barely return them to even keel.
