I think we should have term limits on all top federal bureaucrat postions, whether merely hired by an agency or appointed by the President. I would be happy with terms of no more than 7 years. And I would also like to see them banned for seven years, after leaving their federal job, from working for any industry whose activities were regulated by the federal agency they worked for. In addition to term limits we need to end the regulatory state’s revolving door of main players who rotate between their work as regulators and the industry they regulate.
It is very inbred.
